The HK Prize is Asia’s Premier High School Contest

The hk prize is one of Asia’s premier high school contests, honoring academic achievement and extracurricular participation. It cultivates young people with a sense of self-challenge, giving them the opportunity to take part in various social and environmental service projects, learn new skills and make international connections while competing for monetary awards.

The winning articles are published by renowned international publishers, and the winners will receive free copies of the books for their schools. They also have the chance to present their work at the Hong Kong Book Fair, a leading international trade exhibition for books, periodicals and media. The winning students are also eligible to apply for scholarships from the organisers.

Hong Kong is a world leader in many fields, from the arts to science and technology. It is also a hub for entrepreneurship. The 2022 News Awards saw a record number of winners, including four wins for the China Daily Hong Kong Edition. Senior reporter Xi Tianqi was honoured for her series on the city’s efforts to become a cultural hub, and copy editor James Cook earned two runner-up prizes for his innovative story In the Green Fast Lane that highlighted the city’s efforts to speed up adoption of electric vehicles.

In the field of science and technology, HK AI recognises outstanding achievements by people who have made significant contributions in the following areas: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing and FinTech. Only one Grand Award is awarded in each field per term. To maintain the high judging standards of the award, the final judging panels of each category are responsible for adjudication and determining the winners.

The HKAI is governed by the HK AI Charter, which stipulates that the operation of the award should be carried out professionally and objectively. It should be based on scientific and rigorous standards, and no organisation or individual shall exert undue influence on the review process. It is also a requirement that the award recipients support the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, uphold high social morality and professional ethics, and undertake technological innovation or scientific research work that is primarily completed in Hong Kong or in industry-education-research bases and institutes set up by university higher education institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The symbol of the HKAI, expressed in the logo and the trophy conferred to winners, juxtaposes two precious elements: a pearl and a pierced jade amulet, which holds happy connotations in both Chinese and Western cultures. The HKAI is fully sponsored by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The prestigious prize includes a cash prize and a certificate. The HKAI’s judging panel will be composed of experts from different disciplines. They are all from prestigious universities and research institutes in the Greater Bay Area. The judging panel will convene at least once a year to select the winners for each award category.
