The Hong Kong Prize and Other Awards

The Hong Kong Phil has won the International Music Council’s 2018 Hong Kong Music Prize’ in the Category for Orchestras, making it the fourth time in the history of this award that the HK Philharmonic has received this prestigious honour. The Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize aims to reward outstanding scientists and research teams in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, and Advanced Manufacturing, as well as those from Hong Kong-based institutions set up by higher education institutions and located in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. It was established with a donation from the family of the late Dr. John D. Young and is sponsored by Bank of Hong Kong. It is a non-governmental merit-based award that is not linked to academic ranking. The judging committee is made up of experts from different disciplines. Winners will be awarded a cash prize and an engraved gold medal. In addition, they will be given the opportunity to present their research results to key stakeholders in the development sector.
